Hand Crafted Rose

Remember a loved one with a beautiful, hand crafted Silver Jubilee rose created from recycled metal. Help us to create a rose garden to honour the lives of those who have used Rowans Hospice services over the past 25 years.

You will be able to purchase your Rowans Silver Jubilee Rose until 24 October 2019 when these beautiful flowers will go on display within the beautiful grounds of Rookesbury Park. Your Silver Jubilee Rose keepsake will be yours to collect from the Hospice from Monday 11 November 2019. You can also include a dedication which will be available to view alongside the display.

We would like to welcome everyone to view the spectacle of our rose garden at Rookesbury Park between Friday 25 and Wednesday 30 October 2019, with viewing open from 11am – 1pm each day. There will also be the opportunity to enjoy a tour of this wonderful building and enjoy tea and cake overlooking the display.

The Designer and Design

Designed by local artist Jamie Cullimore, the outdoor sculpture will be made up of 650 individual hand crafted metal roses made from recycled metals. Incorporated within the design there will be 75 special edition stainless steel roses with recycled metal butterfly adornment.  Together these individual works of art will encircle a large central stainless steel rose with butterfly sculpture. To avoid disappointment, and to secure your limited edition rose, please complete our online donation form as soon as possible.

Jamie grew up on his parent’s smallholding near Fareham and followed in his father’s footsteps, forging a career in the horticultural industry. In recent years, he has combined his passion for flowers with a love of metal work, and begun to create bespoke items so that people can enjoy blooms that last forever.

Why Roses and Butterflies?

Symbolic for a plethora of meanings from friendship, love, appreciation to purity, a rose is a breath-taking flower that says so much without needing to say anything.  Combined with the imagery of the butterfly, which so beautifully symbolizes transformation and joy, every element of the sculpture unites to create a powerful celebration of the emotions and moments that have transformed and shaped us, into who each of us are today.

Every rose will be as individual as your memory, whether you have had a loved one who was cared for by the Hospice, worked or volunteered here, or you may simply want to treasure a unique piece of art or buy it as a special gift. Whatever your motivation is, you will also be rewarded by knowing that every rose purchased will support Rowans, your local hospice, to continue to deliver outstanding care to patients and their families with life limiting illnesses for another 25 years.
